A Journey Through Computer Vision and AI
Over the past few years, I have delved deeply into the field of Computer Vision and complemented my knowledge with Artificial Intelligence (AI). It has been an exciting journey exploring various techniques and tools to understand and analyze visual data.
Project Pause: Image Captioning
Recently, I decided to put my ongoing Image Captioning project on hold. Unfortunately, I have only managed to get it to work minimally, and it appears to require at least a GPU with 6-8 GB of memory to deliver meaningful results. I have come to realize that my current computer setup is insufficient to push this project forward.
Current Hardware Limitations
My current computer configuration includes:
- Processor: Intel Core i7
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: 2 GB memory
Unfortunately, these specifications are not adequate to handle the demands of the Image Captioning project. It is frustrating to face this hardware limitation, but I understand that an upgrade is necessary to continue exploring and experimenting with this exciting technology.
Continuing the Journey with Existing Tools
Despite the inability to continue my Image Captioning project at this moment, I will persist in using and exploring the tools and techniques that have been part of my journey. I regularly use platforms like:
- Anaconda: For managing my environments
- OpenCV: For image processing
- Theano and TensorFlow: For deep learning
- Keras: For implementing models
These tools have been instrumental in my work, and I look forward to utilizing them in other projects and experiments.

I am eager to return to the Image Captioning project in the future when I have the appropriate hardware available.
